Who We Are

We believe patients deserve to see the doctor throughout the treatment process. At Orthopedic Associates you will see your own orthopedic surgeon during your initial evaluation, treatment planning, surgery, and recovery. Meeting with your orthopaedic surgeon provides the most comprehensive and consistent results for patients. Jeffrey Hessing, MD, Tand Ryan Applonie, DO, have a passion for helping others. Their combined 50 years of orthopedic excellence speaks to the their dedication to the people of the Boise area.

Dr. Jeffrey Hessing

Jeffrey Hessing is a Boise native, graduating from Boise High School. He obtained his BS degree in Microbiology in 1976 from Brigham Young University. He was a WAMI student at University of Washington School of Medicine graduating in 1980. He completed a rotating internship at University of Oregon Health Sciences Center in 1981 and Orthopedic residency at Southern Illinois University in 1985. He then returned to Boise and joined Orthopaedic Associates. ABOS board certified in 1987 and is an AAOS fellow. He is a subspecialty surgeon and treats only shoulder problems in his practice.

Dr. Ryan Applonie

Dr. Applonie joined Orthopaedic Associates in 2019. He is excited to offer expert and personalized shoulder and elbow care to the Treasure Valley as part of Orthopaedic Associates. He is Board Eligible by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Shoulder and Elbow Society.
